'Rehab is a blessing not a curse': Uncomfortable Lindsay Lohan is grilled on her addiction problems during Letterman appearance

She will be heading for three
months of court ordered rehab on May 2, and, judging by Lindsay Lohan's
comments on Tuesday, she is almost looking forward to the experience.

The
troubled actress was subjected to an uncomfortable grilling during an
appearance on the David Letterman show where she described entering a
treatment facility as 'not a bad thing.'

'I think it's a blessing and not a curse,' she told the talk show host about her forthcoming stint in the treatment centre.

'To be honest, I'm the happiest when I'm
working and the healthiest. I think this is an opportunity for me to
focus on what I love in life.'

Sporting
an orange and white floral dress with her hair in a loose updo, the
star tried her best to deflect Letterman's questions during the chat,
which will air in the U.S. on Tuesday night.

'Aren't
you supposed to be in rehab now?' Letterman asked the 26-year-old who
last month struck a plea deal over charges relating to a car crash in
June 2012.

'Don't you watch anything that goes on? What are you a tabloid now?' she retorted.

In typical fashion, the veteran late
night host didn't let the star off the hook that easily, asking her how
long she was going to be in rehab for and how many times she had been
treated previously.

'Several,' Lindsay acknowledged about her forthcoming sixth time in rehab, where she will spend three months.

'What
are they rehabbing?' asked Letterman, to audience laughter. 'What is on
their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the
door?'

'We didn't discuss this in the pre-interview,' replied an increasingly uncomfortable Lindsay. 'Just saying to everyone.'

'Do you have addiction problems?' he persisted. 'It is alcohol. Do you drink too much.

'Now you sound like Dr Phil,' said Lindsay. 'We've discussed this in the past.'

'Have we?' asked Letterman. 'Now I'm the one that's having the blackouts. I ought to be in rehab for the love of God.'

Despite
the rather testing interview, Lohan looked in good spirits as she left
the studios, having changed into a lather mini-shirt, black lace
sleeveless top and strappy sandals.

The star was even happy to pose for photographers waiting outside, taking her sunglasses off at one point.

The star arrived after skipping a court appearance in Los Angeles

Lilo
had been ordered to appear at a deposition hearing in the city as
part of her ongoing court battle with photographer Grigor Balyan, who is
suing Lindsay and her assistant.

Balyan claims he ended up in hospital
after he was hit by the Liz & Dick star's assistant, when she was
driving the actress' car outside a nightclub in 2010.

According to TMZ,
Lindsay's attorney Julia Azrael tried to let Grigor's lawyer's know
last week she hadn't been able to get in touch with her client, but the
deposition wasn't rescheduled.

Just hours after Monday's hearing, Lindsay was spotted turning up to a sushi restaurant in the Big Apple.

The
photographer's lawyers are now expected to file papers asking for a
judge to force the 26-year-old star to show up to the next meeting.

If she fails to comply, the judge could issue a judgement against her and order Lindsay to pay compensation.

In
February, Ms. Azrael spoke out to slam her famous client for failing to
keep in contact and arrange a date for the deposition.
